Poor maintenance in general. Room was smelly and comforter on bed had not been washed. Floor tile in bath was broken and coming loose, door was loose on its hinges. It would have been okay at about half the price.

Very welcoming of backpackers and their families as well as race car drivers and young families. The lobby/pool/TV/computer area encouraged groups to gather there which made it seem lively and fun. The set up encouraged people to meet new people.

The room was good except for the television that didn't work. All we could see was blur and lines on each channel. We reported it at the desk,; said that they would look into it, but never came.

the room smelt musty from the A/C. Would have preferred a King size bed rather then a double. The water pipes were noisy you could hear them when other guest ran water. We did not run the A/C in the room because of the smell. A/C unit for the motel was noisy. At 2am the smoke detector started chirping because the battery needed to be changed and I had to disconnect it from the wall to get it to stop chirping.

Clean Comfortable, Quiet and friendly staff. They upgraded us to pool side at no extra cost. Climbing Katahdin early so missed breakfast so night before staff gave us muffins and danishes to take with us. We were very worn out when returned and our sleep was quiet and uninterupted and 11:00 am check out worked well. Pool and hot tub were fantastic. Don't let the outside looks fool you, this is a great place and great value and although not advertised they do have free wifi in the rooms. The price was right. I plan on returning next year.

Stayed there prior to it's new name. Upgrades have been made and hope they will continue on making upgrades to the rooms. Will look forward to more upgrades next year.

About the only positive thing I can say about inn was its staf and location were good. Inn was very old and need major updating. It smelt very musty and moldy.

Convenient location and the staff (younger woman) checking us in was excellent. Because we were leaving relatively early the next morning - before the scheduled breakfast - she offered us some food to take along the evening before.

Not an aesthetically pleasing hotel, but that aside the toilet had not been cleaned, nor one wall of the shower (which had some hair on it), and the floor needed vacuuming. If anyone was unlucky to be in the room below us, then they experienced the very creaky floor as well (apologies). Overall, the hotel really needs renovation and more consistent grooming. The price was also rather steep, given the condition, but then there's the whole supply and demand issue in Millinocket.

Katahdin Inn is clean and the staff is responsive and accommodating. They are friendly and helpful. We will return!

Proximity to other places to eat was nice.

The staff was never at the front desk, things did not work such as ice machine, vending machine on our floor not even plugged in. TV was horrible, lines through the picture. Room need painting, patchwork in various locations, especially bathroom. Advertised heated pool was not heated, cold as the snow on the mountain. Water in pool not clear and staff not around to enforce rules of pool. People allowed to smoke right outside entry way, not good.

It serves its purpose and its clean. Breakfast is a little weak but the staff is very friendly. I have seen worst for the same price!!!

        7.4

Location, cost, comfort. It was wonderful that we could open the window, turn off the ac and since the window opened towards an area of trees so that we could have privacy, no traffic sounds and fresh air instead of canned and loud ac air and sound.

The room door did not have a safety lock from the inside lock. There were badly damaged ceiling tiles in the shower/tub stall. The door key did not work consistently.

Little funky -- no hotel sign over entrance door, swimming pool in lobby (!), hidden check-in counter, etc. But the staff was ultra helpful, the breakfast was more than adequate, the room was clean and comfortable, the location was about as close as you can get to Baxter State Park, all-in- all a very pleasant experience.

The building looked bizarre from the outside. We wondered how an architect could possibly design anything like that for a hotel ... Our wonder was quickly forgotten when we checked in: the person at the front desk was very friendly. She offered to upgrade us to a suite for 4 USD a day instead of 20 USD extra per day. We accepted and we ended up with a very spacious room with a king size bed, microwave, fridge, very large and comfortable bathroom. The breakfast room is tiny so it gets crowded and noisy easily, but it is not too hard to adapt. For the purpose of our stay (my husband was hiking all day and I was staying in the hotel for working on my PC) the Katahdin Inn & Suites was perfect: easy location, next to grocery stores and good restaurants, friendly people and clean. I recommend for something like this!
